PM Utility Version 4.5
PLEASE NOTE
This program is merely a fully functional DEMO of the
completed program PMU. PMU works in both high and medium
resolutions. This demo is fully functional though it is
limited to working with the first 10 pictures from any file.
The demo does not save any of the changes done to the picture
file. This is done in order to prevent the demo from ruining
any of your picture files (since it only sees the first 10
pictures!).
PM Utility is avialable from me, Marcos M Zorola for only
$13. Just send a letter with $13, check preferrable, and your
address and I'll send you back a disk with PMU along with its
official documentation.
PMU is valuable to anyone who would like to make use of the
extensive Print Master Libraries in other programs other than
Print Master. PMU does this by converting selected pictures
into a degas file format. Simple scaling is also supported.
With those pictures in Degas format they can then be used by
Publishing Partner, Degas, or any other application that can
make use of Degas compatible pictures.
In addition to making picture files accessable by other
programs, PMU also provides for some very basic functions
left out by Print Master. PMU allows you to rename, delete,
copy, and sort individual pictures. You can also create your
own new libraries and copy pictures from other libraries into
them. Lastly, PMU allows you to make a hardcopy of your
picture file with each picture titled.
Try out PMU, if you feel it would make a useful addition to
your software library, send $13 for your personal copy!

PMU User Interface
The user interface used by PMU is standard GEM. When you run
PMU you will notice the familiar selectable buttons and what
appears to be a window somewhat like the one that appears in
a file selector form. This window is has a title bar and
vertical scroll arrows. After selecting a picture file you
will use this window to select ny and all the pictures you
wish to use in an operation. Use the scroll arrows and scroll
bar in usual GEM fashion. The only differences additional
features of this 'window' is that when the title bar is
selected you have the option to perform an operation on ALL
pictures. Also, when a picture is selected (select a picture
by clicking once on the picture name) it will appear inverse.
Pictures remain selected even when they are scrolled off the
window. All pictures that have deleted have their name
appearing as shaded on the list. Shaded names can be used in
all operations as though they were normal.

PMU Quick Command Summary
FILE
The file button serves a dual purpose. It is used to
load in picture files for use within PMU. If after
loading a file it is determined that limited disk space
is available, PMU will warn you that any changes to the
file MAY not be saved when requested.
When selected while the shift key is pressed, it will
save any changes made to the picture file. PMU checks
the disk and makes sure that the picture file is on the
disk (in case you have switched disks). PMU will also
check for enough disk space BEFORE it proceeds with the
save.
VIEW
The VIEW command displays the selected pictures one at a
time. You may select as many pictures as you wish. Each
time the view button is 'pressed' the picture name is
brought to the top of the list and the picture is drawn
on the view window. PMU will inform you when the last
picture has been displayed.
NOTE that there is another way to see a picture. By
double clicking on a picture name the picture is
displayed on the view window. Double clicking does not
select the picture.
CLIP ART
The clip art button will convert ALL selected pictures
into one or more DEGAS compatible pictures. Simple
scaling is performed. Images can be scaled 1x through 3x
in size.
PRINT OUT
The print out function sends a COMPLETE hard-copy of the
library to the printer. All pictures are titled as well
as the listing. Pressing the mouse button down during
print-out aborts the listing. The file CONFIG.PMU is
used to configure the printer for the print out. If the
file is missing PMU alerts you of it and gives you the
option to use the Epson compatible default settings.
The CONFIG.PMU file can 'program' PMU to the correct
page size as well as centering the graphics. There can
be approx. 50 pictures per standard page.

RENAME
Rename is used to change the name of a picture. Any
character combination is allowable.
COPY
Copy is used to copy a picture to the end of the file.
This may be handy when you want to work on a copy of a
picture without taking a chance of destroying the
original.
DELETE
Delete is used to mark pictures for deletions. NOTE that
delete merely MARKS the picture for deletions. The
actual deleting is done when the file is saved. Deleted
files appear shaded, they can still be used in any
functions. Re-deleting a marked picture 'un-deletes'
it.
SORT
Sort is used to order the picture file in alphabetical
(ascii) sequence. This is useful because a sorted file
is easier to search for a particular picture than an
unsorted file.
TRANSFER
Transfer is used to copy pictures from the current
library to another library. If the destination library
does not exist, you are given to option to have it
created. The command also gives you the option to mark
the transfered pictures for deletion.
EXIT
Used to exit the application.
Graphic Manipulation
After a picture has been 'viewed' (displayed in the view
window), it can be altered in many ways. By clicking
once on the actual view window another form appears with
several graphic operation:
o Up Arrow - standard picture orientation.
o Left Arrow - Orient top of picture to the left.
o Right Arrow - Orient top of picture to the right.
o Down Arrow - Orient top of picture to the bottom.
(Making the picture Upside down)
o Flip - Flipping the picture from right to left.
(If an object is 'facing' right, flip will

make it face left.)
o Inverse - Reverse the image from white on black
to black on white.
NOTE: Keep in mind that the actual image changes are
done NOT to the currently selected picture but to the
picture that is currently displayed in the window.
ONLINE HELP
The online help is obtained by pointing to the object in
question and pressing the left mouse button while
holding down the ALT key.

Once Over
PMU is a handy utility for anyone who needs to make the
most out of their Print Master(C) picture library. There
are many applications that use Degas Compatible file
formats and therefore are able to use Print Master Icons
when converted by PMU.
PMU was written in TDI Modula-2 by Marcos M Zorola.
